This wine cooler, one of a pair, is the work of Paul Storr, arguably England´s greatest Regency silversmith. Rienzi is fortunate to own over a hundred pieces of sterling silver and silver-gilt made by this distinguished silversmith´s firm.

Storr modeled the wine cooler after a famous antiquity, called the Warwick Vase, which dates from the second century A.D. Similar vases, commissioned from Paul Storr by the Prince Regent, remain in the Royal Collection. The coat of arms of Frederick, Duke of York and second son of George III, appear on the pedestals of the Rienzi versions, also royal commissions.
