Internship & Fellowship Programs
The MFAH internship and fellowship program provides specialized training and career readiness for undergraduate and graduate students, fostering the next generation of museum professionals and active community partners.
Information for Faculty and Instructors
Faculty and instructors interested in bringing their students to the Museum are welcome to explore the galleries independently through a teacher-guided visit. Medical Humanities
At the MFAH, Medical Humanities programs are rooted in the principles of object-based learning and designed in close collaboration with medical-field partners. These initiatives are tailored to support medical education and practice by offering immersive, gallery-based experiences that align with the goals of healthcare education and residency training.
Developed in partnership with medical professionals, these programs use the Museum’s collections as dynamic sites of inquiry. In the galleries, participants engage in close-looking exercises, reflective dialogue, and facilitated conversations that explore complex concepts such as communication, uncertainty, and empathy in clinical care. By navigating the inherent ambiguities found in both art and medicine, participants build skills in adaptability, critical thinking, and resilience—essential competencies in today’s healthcare environment.
This approach also invites participants to examine their own assumptions and biases, deepening cultural awareness and fostering self-reflection. At the heart of these experiences is a commitment to cultivating empathy and human connection—qualities that are foundational to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care.
Through this ongoing partnership between art and medicine, the MFAH remains dedicated to supporting the development of thoughtful, reflective, and culturally responsive healthcare professionals.
