Rothko in Reproduction: Dan Fischer’s Graphite Homage
Dec 15, 2015 - Using a technique he calls “Xerox Realism,” Fischer photocopied the reproduction and overlaid it with a 1/8-inch grid, similar to the method Chuck Close uses to create large-scale, photorealist portraits. Fischer explained to the Guardian: “I can’t really say how one image jumps out and chooses me, or I it—it just happens. I can say that I only draw artists or artworks that have inspired or moved me.” I believe Rothko will be important for centuries to come.”James Turrell also admires what one critic described as Rothko’s “wall of light.”

Three Questions for Christopher Rothko
Nov 4, 2015 - I talked with Christopher Rothko about the work of his father, the subject of his new book Mark Rothko: From the Inside Out, published this autumn by Yale University Press. 1. This group of works has a closer connection to my father. 2. Does Houston offer a special context for your father’s work? I think of Houston as maybe the central Rothko city. And as special as that feels to me, I actually don’t think it's that different from other people who love Rothko. He is trying to have such a central conversation about what it means to be human.

At age 2, she finds trains of any size amazing and a treat almost beyond belief. See the model train set for yourself! When designing and creating the model, I kept in mind ease of disassembly for transport and storage.
