July 28, 2022 - “Philip Guston Now,” First Retrospective in Nearly 20 Years of Influential Artist’s Work, Arrives at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, in October
Across 50 years, Philip Guston continually explored varying means of representation, ranging from figuration to abstraction and back again, as he never stopped questioning the place of the artist in society at large. Philip Guston Now is the first retrospective of the artist’s work assembled in nearly two decades.

June 22, 2022 - The MFAH Appoints Paul Coffey Director of the Glassell School of Art
Paul Coffey, vice provost and dean of community engagement at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, has been named director of the Glassell School of Art at the MFAH. He joins the MFAH on July 18, succeeding retiring director Joseph Havel.

June 13, 2022 - Ernie Barnes’s “The Sugar Shack” Goes on View at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, June 15
Houston collector Bill Perkins, who acquired the iconic 1976 painting The Sugar Shack at auction last month, has placed the work with the MFAH through December.

June 6, 2022 - Reinstallation of MFAH Galleries for European Art
A major new reinstallation of 11 galleries for European art spans the Middle Ages through the 18th century, with art from northern and southern Europe as well as Central and South America. The interdisciplinary presentation features paintings, tapestries, sculpture, liturgical objects, and antiquities.

The MFAH presents two of Leandro Erlich’s most iconic installations in the exhibition Leandro Erlich: Seeing Is Not Believing. These immersive environments and a selection of additional works span the career of this acclaimed Argentine artist.
