Looking for a new art experience? Art Encounters programs, led by artists and inspired by art at the MFAH, focus on creating community. The way you participate is up to you! Take an active role, or simply observe. Open to all ages. Supplies are provided.
This Art Encounters session invites you to work alongside artist Chelsea Clarke to explore the world of woven textiles, with inspiration from Guiliana di Camerino’s Panel, on view in the Beck Building. Collaborate on making a loom, and practice weaving techniques used to create textiles with a variety of colored yarn.

About the Artist
Chelsea Clarke completed her MFA at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, where she investigated the intersection of print and fiber. Her work centers around themes of perceived contradiction, seeking comfort, and living in a state of recovery. She received her undergraduate degree in painting and printmaking from Virginia Commonwealth University, where she also finished a post-Baccalaureate in nonprofit management with the goal of one day founding a radically accessible artist residency. Clarke lives in her home state of Texas and works at the University of Houston in the Arts and Technology Center.
