Visit the two MFAH house museums—Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens and Rienzi—for an afternoon of free, family-friendly programs that connect art, nature, history, and science. Park at Bayou Bend and take the complimentary shuttle between locations!

“Women in America” at Bayou Bend | This look at the contributions of women to early American life features music and dance performances; storytelling; and gardening-focused games, activities, and demonstrations. 

“Gardens in Bloom” at Rienzi | Marking its Silver Anniversary, Rienzi celebrates 25 years since opening the house and gardens to the public. Enjoy cookies and other refreshments during your visit.

• 1 p.m.–4:30 p.m. | Art-making workshop: “Quilting Traditions”
• 1 p.m.–4:45 p.m. | Children’s activities in the house hosted by Houston Junior Woman’s Club
• 1 p.m.–5 p.m. | Costume presentation: “The Clothing of a Suffragette”
• 1:30 p.m. | Music and dance performance by Calmecac Indigenous Organization
• 1:30 p.m.–4:30 p.m. | Storytelling: Shaped by Her Hands—Potter Maria Martinez

• 1 p.m.–5 p.m. | Self-guided tours of the house and garden
• 1 p.m.–4:45 p.m. | Art-making for all ages
• 1 p.m.–5 p.m. | Self-guided tour of the new exhibition Color, Scent, and Memory: Rienzi’s Garden, 1954–1999
• 3 p.m. | Gallery talk with curator Misty Flores: “Botanicals in 18th-Century Art”
