Saturday Members Tour | Photography and the Moving Image
MFAH Collections of Photography, Film, and Video / William Kentridge: In Praise of Shadows
MFAH members are invited to explore the Museum’s art collections and exhibitions on special Saturday tours. Topics change monthly.
In August, join a docent to delve into the Museum’s collections of photography, film, and video through selections on view in the Kinder Building. Then enjoy an introduction to the exhibition William Kentridge: In Praise of Shadows in the Beck Building.
The photography galleries present works from every period and major movement, 1840 to the present, in addition to lively thematic groupings. A corner gallery is dedicated to video and time-based media, a genre central to the practice of celebrated South African artist William Kentridge. In Praise of Shadows features his world-renowned animated films and charcoal drawings, as well as prints, bronzes, tapestries, and theater models.
