Houston-based artist Lovie Olivia, whose work is featured in Multiplicity: Blackness in Contemporary American Collage, leads a conversation in the exhibition galleries. This guided experience explores the landscape of contemporary Black collage, the artist’s work and inspirations, and perspectives on the work of mentors and peers.

About the Speaker
Lovie Olivia creates work that spans numerous mediums and methods informed by race, gender, sexuality, and the historical and cultural nuances surrounding these intersections. Her practice presents a contemporary reinterpretation of classic Italian Renaissance frescos and a rich archival take on collage. Olivia’s work hangs in collections including Project Row Houses, ACRE Residency Chicago, the National Museum of African American History and Culture, and University of Texas at Austin.
