History Book Club “Wondrous Beauty”
The History Book Club presents free, bimonthly discussions about literature and art, and you’re invited. These talks focus on books about life in Europe and America during the 18th and 19th centuries, inspired by the collections of the two MFAH house museums: Bayou Bend and Rienzi.
Wondrous Beauty: Betsy Bonaparte, the Belle of Baltimore Who Married Napoleon’s Brother tells the story of Elizabeth Patterson Bonaparte. Her brief marriage to Jérôme Bonaparte, youngest brother of Napoleon, became linked to the diplomatic and political histories of the United States, France, and England.
