Concert “Pictures at an Exhibition”

“Pictures at an Exhibition” A ROCO Musical Promenade

Russian composer Modest Mussorgsky created the piano suite “Pictures at an Exhibition” in 1874 as a tribute to his friend Viktor Hartmann, a Russian painter and architect.

The MFAH and ROCO invite you to explore this beloved composition in a concert pairing art with music. As pianist Mei Rui performs excerpts from “Pictures at an Exhibition,” works from the MFAH art collections are featured on the screen in Brown Auditorium Theater to complement each movement. Guided tours follow, so guests can see the works of art in person.
