This conversation illuminates the artistic and historical significance of the stunning Turkmen Textiles and Jewelry. Lauded as a landmark installation by Hali magazine, the collection is on view in the Hossein Afshar Galleries for Art of the Islamic Worlds. Bruce Baganz, board chair of the Textile Museum and a collector of antique carpets and textiles, also shares insights from years of collecting experience. He is joined by Anushka Hosain, curatorial assistant for Art of the Islamic Worlds. Following the talk, the audience is invited to a tour of the collection.

About the Speaker
Bruce P. Baganz is chairman of the board of trustees of the Textile Museum in Washington, D.C. He is also a member of the Art of the Islamic Worlds subcommittee at the MFAH. An internationally known collector, Baganz was the 2008 honoree of the Joseph V. McMullan Award for stewardship and scholarship in Islamic rugs and textiles. In 2015, he received the field’s highest international accolade, the George Hewitt Myers Award for lifetime achievement in the textile arts.
