Winner of the Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize at the 2023 Berlin International Film Festival, German auteur Christian Petzold’s (Transit) latest drama finds a self-centered author struggling to finish his second novel during a seaside holiday. Hoping for solitude to write, Leon (Thomas Schubert) rents a small house by the Baltic Sea, where – due to miscommunication – others have already taken up residence. Leon becomes furious and distracted as the others enjoy the summer. The days are dry, and as the parched forests around them begin to ignite, so do their smoldering emotions.
