MFAH members are invited to explore the Museum’s art collections and exhibitions on special Saturday tours. Topics change monthly.
In April, join a docent on a tour of the galleries for Art of the Islamic Worlds, newly opened spaces that display, for the first time, the full extent of the MFAH holdings in art from historically Islamic lands. The collection is enhanced by a significant selection of Persian masterworks on extended loan from the distinguished collection of Hossein Afshar.
With nearly 6,000 square feet, these galleries highlight objects spanning more than 1,000 years. The galleries are a culmination of the partnership between the Museum, Houston’s dynamic communities, and a major MFAH initiative to develop exhibitions, scholarship, and programs around art of the Islamic worlds.
