My Imaginary Country (Mi país imaginario)

My Imaginary Country (Mi país imaginario)

Directed by Patricio Guzmán
(Chile, 2022, digital, in Spanish with English subtitles)

In 2019, a revolution exploded without warning in Santiago, Chile. It was the event 80-year-old master documentarian Patricio Guzmán (The Pearl Button) had been waiting for and working toward all his life: more than a million people in the streets demanding justice, education, health care, and a new constitution to replace the strident rules imposed during the Pinochet military dictatorship. My Imaginary Country connects Chile’s complex history to contemporary social movements through protest footage and interviews with activist leaders.
