Learn more about the works of art at Rienzi, the MFAH house museum for European decorative arts. Gallery Talks offer an insider’s look at a particular object in the Rienzi Collection, as well as special topics and themes. Speakers include curators, conservators, educators, and librarians.
Today, assistant curator Misty Flores highlights the 17th-century painting Infant Jesus and Infant John the Baptist, which is on view in the Mexican Room. She also talks about the history and techniques of enconchados—oil paintings inlaid with shells and mother-of-pearl.
