    Apr 13, 2017 - What does Instagram tell us about the MFAH art collections? Recently I took a deep dive into Instagram to see which photos visitors were posting the most when at the Museum. Armed with these newfound Instagram favorites, my colleagues and I decided to have a little fun and create a new way of exploring the Museum: through #InstaTourMFAH, an Instagram-inspired, self-guided tour.   With the objects that were appearing most on Instagram, my colleagues and I created a new “highlights” tour called #InstaTourMFAH.

My “summer abroad” was made possible by the Museum’s partnership with Google Arts & Culture, an online platform that hosts images of artworks from the MFAH collections and offers the ability to create virtual exhibitions. With Google Arts & Culture’s media features, we were able to include an audio interview with the Museum’s associate conservator of paintings, Melissa Gardner—opening a window into the processes and results of art conservation.
