  10. Poetry Workshops in the Galleries

    For National Poetry Month in April, Houston Poet Laureate Reyes Ramirez hosts a series of poetry workshops in the MFAH galleries. He authored the short story collection The Book of Wanderers, a 2023 Young Lions Fiction Award finalist, and the poetry collection El Rey of Gold Teeth. Reyes has been honored with awards and fellowships including the 2025 Anne Frydman Translation Prize from the Hopkins Review, a 2024 Speculative Play and Just Futurities Fellowship, and the Warhol Foundation’s Idea Fund.
