About the Speakers
Christine Gervais is the Fredricka Crain Director of Rienzi and curator for decorative arts at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. She holds a BA in history from Trinity University, an MA in American studies from George Washington University, and an MPhil with distinction in the history of art from the University of Glasgow in Scotland. She has lectured on topics including 18th-century portrait miniatures, the English Arts and Crafts movement, and French Art Deco. In 2008, she curated the MFAH’s first exhibition of portrait miniatures. At the MFAH, she has curated a variety of exhibitions including English Taste: the Art of Dining in the Eighteenth Century and Pattern Repeat: Wallpaper Then and Now. Most recently, Gervais curated the MFAH installation of the blockbuster show Louvre Couture: Art and Fashion.
Kaylin Haverstock Weber is the Lora Jean Kilroy Curator of American painting and sculpture at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. She received her BA in the history of art from Vanderbilt University, and her MPhil and PhD in the history of art from the University of Glasgow. Before coming to the MFAH, she worked at The National Gallery, London, and the Royal Collection. Weber has organized a number of significant exhibitions, including American Adversaries: Benjamin West and John Singleton Copley in a Transatlantic World, Radicals and Revolutionaries: America’s Founding Fathers, and Three Centuries of American Art: The Fayez and Susan Sarofim Collection. She is co-curator of America 250 at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
