Some are willing to take any measures to escape the terror of their domestic lives and insist that “the truth is stronger than the rules.” Visiting Guidelines Masks are recommended in Museum auditoriums. While the men are away, the women narrow their options down to three: do nothing, stay and fight, or leave.

  9. The Design Reformation in Europe, 1845–1915: Selections from the Museum’s Collection

    The use of ornament on these items—often considered illusionistic, referential, and indiscriminate—resulted in a discussion about the aesthetics and even the morality of how things looked. Designers and theorists began to emphasize the importance of and pleasure in the very act of making things. New production methods arising from the Industrial Revolution led to a debate on the relationship between design and industry.
