She holds an M.A. from the Winterthur Program in American Material Culture at the University of Delaware (2015) and a B.A. in art history and history from James Madison University (2011). She holds a degree in horticulture, studied under British floral arranger Sheila Macqueen, and was awarded National Flower Arranger of the Year by the American Horticultural Society in 1994. Margo Handwerker Appointed Director of the Glassell School of Art at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston
Jun 30, 2026 - From 2011 to 2016, she was a lecturer in Critical Studies, Architecture, and Urban Design at the University of California, Los Angeles. Handwerker served as curator and director of the Texas State Galleries at Texas State University, where she curated more than 25 exhibitions and developed interdisciplinary collaborations across the university and the San Marcos to established professionals.
