Dec 1, 2017 - Of course, Houston is a major venue for art, but it’s also important to me that it’s a city with a large Latino population. I want people to find some sense of peace and some sort of meditative quality, but also maybe to wonder what these things stand for even if they don’t have a background in Latino art history. I felt from the very beginning, when I learned of this exhibition, that this was a place for my work, because I had a long history of this theme. What is significant about having your work on view in Houston?

Lost Treasure of the Jewish Ghetto of Venice
The treasures remained untouched for more than 60 years, until they were accidentally discovered, and they have now been restored by Venetian Heritage Inc. Among the works that relate to dining traditions are silver vegetable plates, used during Passover Seders, and a silver ewer and basin, used for the washing of hands prior to eating. These works of art are on display in America for the first time in Lost Treasure of the Jewish Ghetto of Venice. The MFAH presentation is complemented by Venetian paintings from the same time period.
