I want people to find some sense of peace and some sort of meditative quality, but also maybe to wonder what these things stand for even if they don’t have a background in Latino art history. I felt from the very beginning, when I learned of this exhibition, that this was a place for my work, because I had a long history of this theme.     Nov 9, 2012 - This year has been groundbreaking for video-art exhibitions in Houston, and Frater’s show is a compelling addition to the mix. Kenyan-born and Brooklyn-based Mutu is known for her watercolor and collage work, so being able to view two videos in which she acts is a rare opportunity. In the spring, Contemporary Arts Museum Houston presented Perspectives 178: CINEPLEX, which simulated a “cinémathèque space for a celebration of the expansive nature of moving image media and the power of montage.”

    May 11, 2020 - The obvious choice for the tropics was rum, but I decided against it because Kupka was probably a complex guy, with his political satire, cartoons, and Disks of Newton. “Dry” shake (no ice) for one minute. Shake vigorously in an up-and-down motion so that the liquid goes from the top to the bottom of the shaker. After one minute of shaking, add ice. He was inspired by “The Yellow Scale,” from the MFAH collections, and he shares his custom-made creation for you to try at home. As soon as I saw the self-portrait The Yellow Scale, my mind went to work.
