Nov 18, 2020 - Our inspiration for “Seeing and Creating Lines” comes from one of the thematic installations in the new Kinder Building: Line into Space, which showcases sculpture, printmaking, painting, and drawing. To participate in person, visit Lawndale’s sculpture garden—more on that in a minute. Both experiences are appropriate for all ages and skill sets. How does this program connect with the MFAH art collections? About the ProgramLed by artists and inspired by art, Virtual Art Encounters brings the Museum’s popular studio-style art project online. My “summer abroad” was made possible by the Museum’s partnership with Google Arts & Culture, an online platform that hosts images of artworks from the MFAH collections and offers the ability to create virtual exhibitions. In collaboration with curator Aimée Froom and gallery interpretation specialist Chelsea Shannon, I organized Art of the Islamic Worlds, an online exhibition of important objects from the Museum’s ever-growing collection.
