  5. The Immersive Installations of “Pipilotti Rist: Pixel Forest and Worry Will Vanish” Return to the MFAH, beginning in March 2023

    Feb 13, 2023 - She attended both the University of Applied Arts in Vienna (1982–86), studying graphic design, illustration, and photography, and the Basel School of Design (1986–88), studying audiovisual communications and video. In addition to her studio art practice, she was a member of the band Les Reines Prochaines (Queens of the Knives) from 1988 to 1994, and the spirit of collaboration remains central to her work. Pixel Forest and Worry Will Vanish will transform the Museum’s central Cullinan Hall from March 12 to September 4, 2023.

    Jun 12, 2018 - This installation provides a fitting introduction to the exhibition, highlighting how diplomacy, marriage, political resistance, and religion contributed to the desert kingdom’s rich, eclectic culture. Hit “play” to learn more from Gary Tinterow, director of the MFAH; and Mahrukh Tarapor, senior advisor for international initiatives and co-curator of “Peacock in the Desert.” The first gallery of Peacock in the Desert: The Royal Arts of Jodhpur, India features objects that symbolize the griha pravesh, or homecoming procession, when a king would bring his bride home to Jodhpur.
