Frames to Cranes: Art Preparation at the MFAH
MFAH members at the Benefactor level, as well as members of the Leadership Circle, are invited to this exclusive look at the Museum’s art preparation department. Keeping the MFAH collections and exhibitions looking sharp and fresh for future generations is a monumental feat. An entire department devotes itself to everything from perfect framing to crating; moving art safely from truck to gallery; and even, on occasion, employing industrial cranes to achieve the desired results. Dale Benson, chief preparator at the MFAH, talks about his team’s difficult work, sharing stories of complex exhibitions, delicate artworks, and installing an entire building in a matter of weeks.
Light bites are served at 2 pm. The program follows at 2:30 pm.
