Sara Driver: Filmmaker
The Museum salutes Sara Driver on the occasion of her new film, Boom for Real: The Late Teenage Years of Jean-Michel Basquiat. A creative force in New York’s independent film industry for decades, Driver is a New Jersey native who received her MFA in film from New York University. Invited to the 2018 Thessaloniki Documentary Film Festival, Driver selected some of her favorite films for presentation, including Energy and How to Get It from the Robert Frank Collection of the MFAH.

Making Monarchy: The Changing Face of Power
Oct 18, 2018 - In February 1952, she sat for esteemed portrait photographer Dorothy Wilding for images to mark the queen’s ascension and coronation. This portrait was commissioned by Sir Henry Lee as part of an elaborate plan for the queen to forgive him for living with his mistress. The resulting portraits, 59 in all, were sent to embassies worldwide, and were later adapted for use on banknotes and stamps.
