Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, to Open Its Steven Holl–Designed Nancy and Rich Kinder Building on November 1, 2020
Jan 15, 2020 - Steven Holl Architects designed the master plan for the redevelopment, along with the Kinder Building and a new home for the Glassell School of Art. A series of seven major site-specific commissioned artworks will be inaugurated with the Kinder Building, serving as portals that connect this new structure with the other components of the campus. The trapezoidal concrete Kinder Building is clad in vertical glass tubes that will emit a soft glow at night in a pattern across its facades.

Jan 15, 2015 - Our new Museum pavilion, in soft-etched, translucent glass tubes, will provide natural light to the galleries, offer a glowing presence at night, and form a ‘cool jacket’ around the new building, reducing solar gain and creating dramatic redevelopment of its 14-acre campus, including a unifying master plan; a 164,000-square-foot-building for 20th- and 21st-century art; and a new, 80,000-square-foot home for the Glassell School of Art, all by Steven Holl A new, dedicated tunnel will guide school groups and the public between the Nancy and Rich Kinder Building and the Mies building.
