    Mar 3, 2022 - Erlich explores the perceptual bases of reality and our capacity to confront these fundamental foundations. As he said in a 2014 interview, he considers space “the ‘stage’ of our lives. … My work is like opening a window to see the new world and other realities.”  “His interventions into ordinary spaces resonate perhaps even more so today, at a time when our collective sense of time and space has become fluid and uncertain.”

  8. Rothko in Reproduction: Dan Fischer’s Graphite Homage

    Dec 15, 2015 - Using a technique he calls “Xerox Realism,” Fischer photocopied the reproduction and overlaid it with a 1/8-inch grid, similar to the method Chuck Close uses to create large-scale, photorealist portraits. See Richter’s Abstract Pictures (Rhombus Cycle), currently on view in Cullinan Hall, and Turrell’s The Light Inside, a permanent installation in the Museum’s Wilson Tunnel, during your next MFAH visit.
