Sep 14, 2015 - Filmgoers receive a ballot and vote for their favorite film and actor; watch for our announcement of the winners here and on social media. Quite often our audiences' taste aligns with the favorites worldwide. Martin Scorsese memorably interviewed his parents early in his career for a short film, Italianamerican. Short films have always been part of the Museum's year-round offerings, and our audiences enjoy them very much. Since we have several shorts programs coming up, I've been thinking about short-form filmmaking lately.

Jul 31, 2026 - After identifying more than 300 magazines and 900 photographers, we narrowed our scope to those photographers working for multiple magazines. By providing access to these rare magazines, this online resource will ensure that these important cultural touchstones are available for generations to come. Because nearly all of these images were produced for publication in magazines—the primary way readers of this era encountered photography—most of these photographs are being displayed for the first time in the exhibition.
