“Impressionist and Post-Impressionist Masterpieces from the Pearlman Foundation” Opens May 21 at the MFAH
Mar 8, 2023 - Enchanted by the painting, Pearlman made a successful bid for the work—View of Céret (1921–22), on view in this exhibition—and that first purchase triggered a passion for collecting that endured for the rest of his life. The MFAH is also home to the Glassell School of Art, with its Core Residency Program and Junior and Studio schools; and the International Center for the Arts of the Americas (ICAA), a leading research institute for 20th-century Pearlman met with him there in 1948, and sat for his portrait, which is presented here, as is Lipchitz’s 1952 portrait bust of the collector.

Katherine S. Howe to retire, after 41 years at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston
Jan 27, 2016 - a Gilded Age (1994); and Fit for a King: English Silver from the Collection of George S. Rienzi welcomes some 20,000 visitors each year for tours, family programs, lectures, concerts and a variety of special events. Howe was appointed director of the Dora Maar House in Ménerbes, France, to oversee the Museum’s fellowship program for artists and writers.

Some shepherds wear tops that bare a single shoulder, not unlike shirts that were briefly fashionable for the über-stylish man of 2014.
