This portrait was commissioned by Sir Henry Lee as part of an elaborate plan for the queen to forgive him for living with his mistress.   The resulting portraits, 59 in all, were sent to embassies worldwide, and were later adapted for use on banknotes and stamps.

Models in period costumes pose for a life-drawing session, and Hollie Stephan, an instructor at the Glassell School of Art, assists participants of all skill levels.     Most recently, Sterner has written music for The Donovan Affair, a 1929 film that was Frank Capra's first all-talking film. The sound discs have been missing for over 60 years. Steve Sterner has written music for and accompanied over 300 silent films. The MFAH has selected four highlights from this landmark restoration project for screening this spring.
