Musiqa Mixer | February 16 In collaboration with the MFAH, Musiqa presents a free concert to celebrate the Museum’s New Galleries for Art of the Islamic Worlds, opening on March 5. Musiqa has a mission to enrich and inspire the community through programs that integrate contemporary music with other forms of modern art. Roman Vishniac Retrospective Opens at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, in September
Sep 2, 2015 - Following a brief period of internment in France, Vishniac arrived in New York in 1941 and opened a portrait studio to support his family. Apr 19, 2023 - A successful stockbroker in the 1920s, he lost all of his earnings in the Crash of 1929. During the Depression, Webb prospected for gold, worked as a forest ranger, wrote short stories and picked up a camera. For both, a composition including the American flag was too potent to resist. Knowing “‘the photographing of America’ is a large order,” they threw themselves into the impossible task anyway, eager to prove their artistry.
