Teamwork Saves a Great Work of Art for Houston’s Future
Aug 22, 2019 - The call for help came September 6, 2017, from our trustee Sarah Trotty. Then, the Museum coordinated with our construction company, McCarthy, to patch the roof. Our conservators, led by Soni Bomford, started putting tissue facing on the fragile sections to stabilize them.

Every Dot Knows Where It Is: A Chat with Pipilotti Rist
Jun 26, 2017 - A machine is always only an extension of our body. For example, a camera is a bad, simple copy of our very complex eye system. Our brains are made up of low-voltage electrode signals—Pixel Forest looks like a simplified brain. In a way, all technology is a copy of nature. Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Presents the Work of Argentine Conceptual Artist Leandro Erlich in June 2022
Mar 3, 2022 - Erlich explores the perceptual bases of reality and our capacity to confront these fundamental foundations. As he said in a 2014 interview, he considers space “the ‘stage’ of our lives. … My work is like opening a window to see the new world and other realities.” “His interventions into ordinary spaces resonate perhaps even more so today, at a time when our collective sense of time and space has become fluid and uncertain.”

Must-See Art This Fall, Handpicked by MFAH Curatorial Staff
Sep 20, 2016 - Read the curators’ notes, then find the autumn-inspired art on view in our permanent collection galleries! Orangey reds, golden yellows, velvety browns are hard to come by in Houston’s eternal summer, but a visit to the Arts of China gallery can satisfy the need to admire some fall colors. As fall approaches with colder weather, and leaves begin to change color, I imagine many us will want to wrap up in our own quilts at home.
