contemporary@mfah
contemporary@mfah celebrates the multifaceted vitality of modern and contemporary art at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Members are invited to participate in a series of events annually, including dialogues with Museum professionals, tours of private collections, exclusive exhibition viewings, and artists’ studio visits. Members also have the opportunity to learn about best practices in collecting with an emphasis on how to acquire and maintain the art of our time. Membership dues create a permanent legacy, having made it possible to bring landmark works into the MFAH collections, including Magdalena Abakanowicz’s Abakan Rouge III, Spencer Finch’s Moon Dust, Rick Lowe’s Untitled, and Betye Saar’s Weight of Persistent Racism, all prominently featured in the inaugural installations of the Nancy and Rich Kinder Building.
Past program highlights include:
- Cocktail reception and private tour of the nationally acclaimed exhibition Tamara de Lempicka with MFAH curator Alison de Lima Greene, Victoria de Lempicka and Marisa de Lempicka, the artist’s granddaughter and great-granddaughter.
- Evening reception at the home of one of Houston’s most esteemed architects, distinguished by a global view of contemporary art and design
