Harun Farocki: Art/Work and the Invisible Hand
Nov 30, 2012 - The exhibition consists of a video installation (a two-channel video and a single-channel video) that investigates the implications of the increasing autonomy of machines. His development of the film essay and critical engagement as editor of the journal Filmkritik (1974–84) have had a decisive influence on a generation of artists and filmmakers. Farocki (born 1944) is a filmmaker, critic, editor and curator who has lived and worked in Berlin for more than 40 years.

Hitchcock Silents
Bruce Goldstein of the Film Forum hired a group of actors and a sound effects expert and the soundtrack was recreated live at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood for the Turner Classic Movie Film Festival in April of 2013. Most recently, Sterner has written music for The Donovan Affair, a 1929 film that was Frank Capra's first all-talking film. The sound discs have been missing for over 60 years. "The Hitchcock 9" is a joint venture of the BFI, Rialto Pictures/STUDIOCANAL, and Park Circus/ITV. Special ticket prices apply for these silent-film concerts. General admission is $15.

May 6, 2022 - Considered to have been acquired as the result of a voluntary—not a forced—sale, they remained in the German state’s possession until 2019. Following these results, on neither occasion did the family pursue a claim. The Museum has received a prompt and definitive decision from the federal court on this matter.

UH and MFAH Announce Partnership Focused on Latino/Latin American Art & Culture
Jun 6, 2018 - Today, the MFAH and UH participated in a ceremonial signing of a Memorandum of Understanding that includes the Art History Program at the UH Kathrine G. The latter program incorporates significant art historical studies in a bilingual Spanish/English environment. Hispanics make up 31 percent of the student population at UH, which is a reflection of the greater Houston region.
