At a Texas children’s hospital, music therapist Al (Samantha Smart) spends her days coaxing joy out of chaos, lifting young spirits while quietly holding space for families in crisis. Then comes 17‑year‑old Charlie (Gabriela Ochoa Perez), battle‑hardened from years of treatment and allergic to comfort until Al reaches her with disarming honesty. Written by Smart, Charliebird radiates humor and grace, its spare storytelling and lived‑in performances revealing the quiet force of human connection. Shot and edited with a musician’s ear for rhythm, Smart’s debut film hums with vulnerability—and lingers like a song you can’t shake.
