Pasted Papers: The Art of Collage

Contemporary artists continue to contribute to the medium by infusing it with innovative materials and technical processes, which meld technology and art to produce distinctly new collage formats. It is used to describe both the technique and the resulting work of art in which pieces of paper, photographs, newspaper and magazine clippings, fabric, and other ephemera are arranged and attached to a supporting surface, usually The 20 works in this exhibition explore the art of collage, a term derived from the French verb coller (to glue).

Beyond Visible: UV-Visible Fluorescence in Works of Art

Apr 11, 2017 - I was invited by the MFAH conservation department to give a workshop to discuss making the technique of UVA radiation easier and more accessible to the Museum’s staff. This accuracy allows the images to be meaningfully compared, understood, and re-created by other conservation professionals: a previously unattainable goal due to the nature of UV-visible fluorescence and differences in approach Looking for Clues Many natural materials produce fluorescence when exposed to radiation from UVA light.

Virtual Summer Art Classes at the Glassell Junior School

A World of Creativity From ceramics, to cartooning, to architecture, and beyond, the Glassell Junior School offers a diverse range of fun, livestream classes. Ages 6 to 8 can discover a colorful and whimsical world in the “Inspired by Dr. Seuss” class. The world of fashion design awaits in the “Fun with Fashion” class for ages 8 to 10. Apr 6, 2020 - Following interviews with dancers, we chose to juxtapose the traditional with the new generation’s style of dance. We asked one prestigious ensemble to provide dancers for our film. I am trying to show that even though you open up to different directions, you can still celebrate and keep your traditions.
