  4. ASAP Conference | SHOW NO SHAME, FEEL NO PITY

    Both filmmakers are in attendance for a post-screening conversation.   Plan Your Visit Included with Museum admission. This event takes place in Brown Auditorium Theater on the lower level of the Law Building. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. This event is part of the annual conference of the Association for the Study of the Arts of the Present (ASAP), held this year at Rice University and throughout Houston.

  5. Opening Day Lecture | “From India to the World: Textiles from the Parpia Collection”

    Plan Your Visit This lecture is included with Museum admission. The program takes place in Brown Auditorium Theater in the Law Building. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Her books include Indian Embroidery, The Fabric of India, Indian Ikat Textiles, Chintz: Indian Textiles for the West, and Marwar Painting: A History of the Jodhpur Style.   6. The Princess Bride

  7. Summer Lit Series | “Thomas Demand: The Stutter of History”

The performances take place in the exhibition gallery in the Beck Building. “Thomas Demand: The Stutter of History” has been co-organized by the Foundation for the Exhibition of Photography, Minneapolis/Paris/Lausanne, and Ullens Center for Contemporary Art, Beijing/Shanghai, in collaboration with the Miranda Ramírez is a multidisciplinary artist; writer; founder and director of Defunkt Press; and literary columnist for Public Poetry.

  8. Book Launch | “Paradise Now: The Extraordinary Life of Karl Lagerfeld”

    Known for sporting dark sunglasses and a signature ponytail, Lagerfeld was famous for his personal style and for reinventing the House of Chanel. —New York Times Plan Your Visit This program is included with Museum admission. The lecture takes place in the Lynn Wyatt Theater in the Kinder Building. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Signed copies of the book, a biography of fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, are available for purchase at the lecture.

  9. Frida Look-Alike Day

    Free for ages 12 and younger. Plan Your Visit Activities take place on the Lower Level of the Kinder Building. Visit the exhibition Frida: The Making of an Icon at a discounted rate during this event. Free audio guides are available in Spanish and English at the gallery entrance. Winners announced at 3:30 pm and 4:30 pm. 4 pm | Live Performance by DJ Rosez DJ Rosez spins the best tropical tunes while setting the vibe for the last hour of festivities.
