  4. ASAP Conference | SHOW NO SHAME, FEEL NO PITY

    Both filmmakers are in attendance for a post-screening conversation.   Plan Your Visit Included with Museum admission. This event takes place in Brown Auditorium Theater on the lower level of the Law Building. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. This event is part of the annual conference of the Association for the Study of the Arts of the Present (ASAP), held this year at Rice University and throughout Houston.

  6. Lecture | Embroidery of Ahmedabad

    He also shows images of the pieces commissioned for Humayun’s Tomb World Heritage Site Museum as well as recent embroidered textiles.  Plan Your Visit This program is included with Museum admission.  Trained as an interior designer, he is the founder of CDS Art Foundation, the creative visionary behind Walking Hand-in-Hand, and the curator for experiential exhibits around the world. Asif Shaikh, one of India’s most accomplished embroidery and textile artists, presents different samples, textiles, tools, and materials used for embroidery by master artisans at his studio in Ahmedabad.

  7. Book Launch | “Gego: Weaving the Space in Between” with Mónica Amor and Mari Carmen Ramírez

    Join for a fruitful conversation filled with insights into Gego’s practice and influence, as well as the ways in which Gego’s art has been variously interpreted over the past few decades. For more than 25 years, Amor has maintained a deep engagement with work of Gego, a key figure in the development of 20th-century Latin American art.

Recent solo exhibitions have been mounted by the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Beirut Art Center, Lebanon; Kunsthaus Bregenz, Austria; and the Centre for Contemporary Arts, Glasgow, Scotland.
