This lecture complements the exhibition From India to the World: Textiles from the Parpia Collection.
Asif Shaikh, one of India’s most accomplished embroidery and textile artists, presents different samples, textiles, tools, and materials used for embroidery by master artisans at his studio in Ahmedabad. He also shows images of the pieces commissioned for Humayun’s Tomb World Heritage Site Museum as well as recent embroidered textiles.

- This program is included with Museum admission. A tour of the exhibition follows the lecture.
- The lecture takes place in the American General Conference Room on the Mezzanine Level of the Beck Building. Seating is first come, first served. The exhibition is located on the Lower Level of the Beck Building.

About the Speaker
Asif Shaikh, a master Indian textile artist from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, is renowned for his exquisite and meticulous needlework. Trained as an interior designer, he is the founder of CDS Art Foundation, the creative visionary behind Walking Hand-in-Hand, and the curator for experiential exhibits around the world.
