  1. Book Launch | “Paradise Now: The Extraordinary Life of Karl Lagerfeld”

    Known for sporting dark sunglasses and a signature ponytail, Lagerfeld was famous for his personal style and for reinventing the House of Chanel. —New York Times Plan Your Visit This program is included with Museum admission. The lecture takes place in the Lynn Wyatt Theater in the Kinder Building. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Signed copies of the book, a biography of fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, are available for purchase at the lecture.

  2. Frida Look-Alike Day

    Free for ages 12 and younger. Plan Your Visit Activities take place on the Lower Level of the Kinder Building. Visit the exhibition Frida: The Making of an Icon at a discounted rate during this event. Free audio guides are available in Spanish and English at the gallery entrance. Winners announced at 3:30 pm and 4:30 pm. 4 pm | Live Performance by DJ Rosez DJ Rosez spins the best tropical tunes while setting the vibe for the last hour of festivities.

  4. Exhibition Talk | "Flashpoint! Protest Photography in Print, 1950–Present"

    Plan Your Visit This program is included with Museum admission. The lecture takes place in the Hirsch Library on the lower level of the Beck Building. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

  5. Tango Night

    Plan Your Visit  This event is included with Museum admission. On Friday, the Museum is open until 9 pm and Cafe Leonelli is open until 8 pm.

  6. Late Fridays: Music in the Galleries | Mercury Chamber Orchestra

    Tickets $35 per person $25 for MFAH members $10 for students / children 12 & younger Plan Your Visit The concert takes place in Gallery 214 on Level 2 of the Beck Building. Looking for more to do during Late Friday? Enjoy a drink at Happy Hour Friday or join a guided tour of the galleries. The “Bach & Mendelssohn” program highlights Johann Sebastian Bach’s “The Art of the Fugue” and “Goldberg Variations” as well as Felix Mendelssohn’s “Octet in E-Flat Major for Strings, Op. 20.” 

  7. Author Talk “The Golden Road”

    A book signing takes place after the talk, with books available for purchase. Plan Your Visit Admission is free with RSVP registration. A frequent broadcaster, he has written and presented three television series, one of which won the Grierson Award for Best Documentary Series at BAFTA. A standby line is available for any unclaimed seats, which are released five minutes prior to the talk. This program takes place in Lynn Wyatt Theater in the Kinder Building.

  8. Artists in Dialogue “The Obama Portraits Tour”

    Artists in Dialogue The exhibition The Obama Portraits Tour provides the inspiration for this conversation. Plan Your Visit This program is free, with seating on a first-come, first-served basis. The Obama Portraits Tour is included with general admission, which is free on Thursdays, when the Museum is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. About the Artists (pictured in slideshow)• Jammie Holmes (Dallas) is a self-taught painter who tells the story of contemporary life for many Black families in the Deep South.

  9. American Modernism from the Charles Butt Collection

    Plan Your Visit This exhibition is located on Level 1 of the Beck Building. Widely known for his philanthropy and commitment to education, Charles Butt also has a discerning eye and passion for American modernism.
