For the first time, the MFAH participates in Silent Movie Day, joining theaters across the United States to celebrate the early pioneers of the motion-picture industry. This double feature presents new restorations of a classic Buster Keaton comedy and an Italian feminist adventure. As silent-film aficionado Martin Scorsese said, “This is exactly the type of activist spirit we need in the world of cinema.”

The 1915 Italian, feminist, steampunk, jewel-thief, crossdressing, aviatrix thriller of the year! Flying high above the clouds in her dirigible, a daring sky pirate steals from the rich before mysteriously vanishing into the clouds. With Detective Hendy on her trail, a cat-and-mouse adventure unfolds. The restoration features a marvelous range of film tinting and toning, enhancing the film’s visual effects.
