Carefree teen Totone (Clément Faveau) spends his time drinking with friends and chasing romance. After the sudden death of his father, Totone is compelled to care for precocious younger sister Claire (Luna Garret) while trying to keep their dairy farm afloat. Various schemes later, he enters a cash competition for the best Comté cheese.
Set in the gorgeous rural Jura region of Eastern France, this debut feature is both a coming-of-age story and an ode to the love of cheese. Holy Cow won César Awards for Best First Film and for Best Female Revelation (actress Maïwene Barthelemy).
