One of the most significant artists of the 20th century, Georgia O’Keeffe is renowned for her contribution to modern art. The filmmakers were inspired “after learning that in 1908, 20-year-old O’Keeffe gave up her dream of becoming an artist, and did not pick up a paint brush for nearly four years. But as a student at the University of Virginia, in 1912, she discovered Arthur Wesley Dow’s philosophy which transformed her thinking, her art, and her life.” Showcasing O’Keeffe’s vibrant art, observations by curators and scholars, and excerpts from 20,000 pages of letters between the artist and her husband, photographer Alfred Stieglitz, the life of this remarkable artist is detailed. Claire Danes voices Georgia O’Keeffe.
