Author Karla Tatiana Vasquez talks about her new book, The SalviSoul Cookbook: Salvadoran Recipes & the Women Who Preserve Them. Moderating the conversation is Yeiry Guevara, public programs manager at the MFAH.
They discuss intergenerational storytelling and cultural preservation of Salvadoran tradition through the culinary arts. The SalviSoul Cookbook celebrates the vibrant culture and community of El Salvador through 80 recipes and stories from 25 Salvadoran women. Vasquez includes her conversations with mothers, aunts, grandmothers, and friends in order to preserve these valuable histories.
A book signing takes place after the talk, with books available for purchase.

About the Author
Karla Tatiana Vasquez is a food writer, recipe developer, and food stylist based in Los Angeles. Her writing has been featured in publications including the Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle, and Teen Vogue. She is also an advocate for increasing access to healthy food in low-income communities.
