Ornette: Made in America
Shirley Clarke’s portrait of Texas jazz visionary Ornette Coleman chronicles the musician’s story and captures the premiere of a new work in his hometown of Fort Worth in 1983. The film includes contributions from William S. Burroughs, Don Cherry, Buckminster Fuller, Brion Gysin, Charlie Haden, and Yoko Ono. Before the feature, we present Dick Fontaine’s rarely seen short film David, Moffett and Ornette, documenting the Ornette Coleman Trio at a Paris studio in 1966.
