The MFAH Book Club Goes Digital!
Art and literature meet at the MFAH Book Club! Our book club program has always offered established book clubs the opportunity to read and discuss the MFAH book selections during guided tours, and beginning with the summer 2017 pick, we’re proud to offer more flexible options for individuals on the go.
Now, you can enjoy book club discussions from home or on a mobile device, at your own pace. Simply read (or listen—we recommend audiobooks to lighten up your Houston commute!) to this summer’s selection, The Last Painting of Sara de Vos by Dominic Smith, and join the MFAH Goodreads group. It’s free, and you can log in easily with your Facebook account. We post new discussion questions in the group every other week, and we encourage you to post your insights and pose your own questions any time.
You also have the option to come to the Museum for one of two scheduled drop-in tours of the galleries. Inspired by the book’s themes, the tours are a great opportunity to meet fellow MFAH Book Club members and engage with the art in the MFAH collections.
The summer session runs through September 30, so feel free to visit the Goodreads group any time and contribute to the conversation—or just check out other people’s thoughts!
Learn more about the MFAH Book Club, and drop in to one of this summer’s two MFAH Book Club–related gallery tours, on August 17 or September 23.
