    Mar 8, 2023 - Banoo Parpia has recently retired as director of development for Asia at Cornell University. Later textiles made for specific markets, such as Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Europe, show how textile designers and makers tailored fabrics for foreign tastes. Jeevak Parpia is a professor of physics at Cornell University, with a research focus on experimental atomic and condensed-matter physics.

    Before The collectivity project opened at the Museum, students from the Rice University School of Architecture and Texas Southern University collaborated on building the installation's initial structures. Museum visitors are invited to participate in The collectivity project, an imaginary cityscape made of more than 580,000 white Lego bricks. Dive right in to help build and rebuild the structures! The human-scale work of art encourages visitors to engage in new ways of thinking about Houston’s built environment and social spaces.

  7. Vitality Arts Workshop: Rags to Repurpose

    Although it is not required, attendees are welcome to bring and work with their own old denim.   In this hands-on workshop geared toward older adults, participants learn new ways to upcycle old denim jeans into useful garments and accessories, such as purses and shop aprons.
