    They marketed a modern, aspirational lifestyle to women while promoting prepared foods and myriad new appliances celebrated for their convenience and efficiency.    Food and home entertaining took center stage in this new age of abundance, and a wide range of cookbooks promoted everything from curious Jell-O salads to international cuisine. Made possible by an elaborate supply chain and the latest technology, midcentury tables were filled with a wide variety of good that reflected changing tastes and ideas about modern living.

    The series now comprises 17 Mike Kelley projections, each one a variant on a single tree that passes through seasonal cycles, going from bare to tender green, to autumnal incandescence, and back to the barren boughs of winter. Each generation witnesses Houston through new eyes, seeing and experiencing a fresh incarnation of the city. Utilizing photography as a tool, these student photographers document their perspectives. This year marks the 22nd edition of the exhibition.

  8. Mona Hatoum: Twelve Windows

    Hatoum was born into a Palestinian family in Beirut, Lebanon, in 1952, and she has lived and worked in London since 1975.   Every window, through its stitches and patterns, represents a key region of Palestine. Visitors are invited to navigate their way through the installation. Twelve Windows, conceived by artist Mona Hatoum, was created in collaboration with Inaash, a Lebanese non-governmental organization founded in 1969 to generate employment for Palestinian women in Lebanese refugee camps.

Shedding light on a little-known chapter of 20th-century art, the exhibition features more than 150 Czech avant-garde works collected by Houston philanthropists Roy and Mary Cullen.
