  2. Richard Diebenkorn: Three Works on Paper in the MFAH Collection

    About 1967, his work began to focus on abstracted aerial landscapes, such as the painting Ocean Park #124.  Diebenkorn earned international acclaim for his Ocean Park series, named after a community near Santa Monica, California, where he lived and worked for the next 25 years. Then, in his paintings and drawings of 1984 and 1985, Diebenkorn heightened the ambiguity of space, using elements of collage to add lyricism while maintaining structure.

  7. Writers Remix Series | “Navigating the Waves”

    This session of the Writers Remix Series focuses on how the exhibition traces the evolution of photography in Cuba from the 1960s to the 2010s. Local writers perform original works, all within the Museum galleries. She has taught for Writers in the Schools and at institutions including the University of Houston, University of Houston–Downtown, Houston Community College, and the Houston Independent School District. On Fridays, the Museum is open until 9 p.m. with happy hour from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Arrival Hall on the Lower Level of the Kinder Building.
